Pharyngitis assessment/plan

#1 ***Pharyngitis/Sore throat/Pharyngitis, rule out mono/Strep pharyngitis***
***Strep screen/treat per protocol/treat regardless of throat culture results due to CENTOR criteria/throat culture not obtained/Rapid Mononucleosis Screen/CBC***
Symptomatic relief discussed
Mono-type illness cautions discussed. To avoid all contact risk activities and sports until cleared to return. discussed potential complications and advised immediate evaluation if any develop.
Strep pharyngitis considered contagious until treated for 24 hours
Advised to recheck if not resolved in one week or sooner if worse in any way.
Medications and side effects discussed:
***Penicillin 250 mg twice daily x10 days/Penicillin 500 mg, twice daily x 10 days/Amoxicillin 250 mg, twice daily x 10 days/Amoxicillin 500 mg, twice daily x10 days/Azithromycin for age and weight/Keflex 250 mg bid x 10 days/Keflex 500 mg bid x 10 days***
